It started in earnest 4 weeks ago when, on a visit to the doctors, my blood pressure was high. For the third time. My doctor gave me 4 weeks to cut down the salt in my diet (I'm a saltaholic), and to start exercising. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning, and if all my efforts have had no effect, I will need to begin taking medication to control my blood pressure. Fingers crossed for me please!
We "inherited" a treadmill from my in-laws, and I started walking on it once every two days. I cut right back on my salt intake, to the point where I was getting paranoid about what I was eating, in case it contained too much sodium! I have since relaxed a little on that, and am enjoying eating healthier. There are times I slip and eat junk, but it's not every single day.
Since that doctors appointment 4 weeks ago, I have lost just over 2 kilograms (around 5lb), and this morning I woke up more determined than ever to shed the excess weight and get healthy for life. I wanted to start this blog to record my progress, and be able to look back at how far I have come in my journey :)
A little about me. I am a stay at home mum of 4 wonderful children, ranging in age from 20 down to 6. I will be hitting the big 40 at the end of this year, and that is another motivation to rid myself of the excess weight, so I can rock my birthday in style :) I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis (an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland), and now recently diagnosed with high blood pressure.
This is one of the most recent photo's of me at my heaviest. I know it won't give the best idea of my size, but it will do for now :)
I will be adding weekly photos as I progress through this, and hopefully it will give me more inspiration and determination.
Thanks for reading! xo
